Unravelling & Frayed Edge Repair
A frayed edge caught early is a repair. Left too long, it becomes a loss.
Cuffs, collars, and hems take the most wear on any knit. At Re By Lisa Tse, we assess each frayed or unravelling edge individually, because the repair approach depends on how far the damage has progressed and where it sits on the garment.
When caught early, we harvest matching yarn from a discreet area of the sweater and reknit the edge back to its original structure. The repair is seamless. The ribbing sits and behaves exactly as it did before.
More advanced damage requires working in the opposite direction to replicate the original fabric. Ribbing can only be knitted one way, which makes restoration more complex. We are transparent about what is possible before any work begins.
